What are the conditions for a Jurist representative?

What conditions are placed on someone who identifies himself as a representative or authorized agent of a Jurist? And, what is the mechanism to verify the veracity (truthfulness) of a person who claims that he is an authorized agent of a Jurist?

He must hold a written (documented and signed) authorization letter from the Jurist.

You may ask him to show his written authorization letter.

What role does the religious authority play in sociopolitical matters?

What role does the religious authority see itself playing with regards to the sociopolitical matters of Shia Muslims in the world, including the United States?

The religious authority adopts a rational approach in assessing the current state of affairs, as well as in identifying solutions and adopting specific positions. As such, the religious authority only considers the fulfillment of religious affairs to be its duty, and therefore, it does not interfere in politics. Instead, it leaves those activities to the political entities and professionals in the field. It only intervenes in the crucial matters of the nation and the implementation of its interests if the political apparatus is unable to deal with them or provide comprehensive solutions.

Administering social justice, regulating security, fighting corruption, preserving national sovereignty, and other such functions are the duties of the government, and the religious authority only provides advice and guidance.

Is it permissible to do taqlid (follow) more than one jurist?

Is it permissible to emulate more than one jurist?
If one of the jurists is more learned in a certain subject matter of Islamic law while the other is more learned in another, then it is permissible to emulate each of the jurists in the subject matter that they are most learned in, rather it is obligatory to do so. However, if a jurist is the most learned in all subjects of Islamic law, then a duty-bound person must emulate that jurist in all matters. If the jurists are equally learned, or it cannot be ascertained which of them is the most learned and most cautious in issuing a ruling, the duty-bound person can choose which one to emulate. (The most learned is the one who is most capable of deriving rulings, and most familiar with the religious evidence and its application such that the possibility of his edicts corresponding with the actual laws of God is higher than the edicts of other jurists.)
